The Fair Family spent our New Year’s in Gatlinburg at a cozy cabin complete with a hot tub and a VERY scary trip up to the top of a mountain. Once Daddy made it up to the top of the mountain in freezing temperatures and fog we only went down to eat dinner and visit the aquarium. Gracie had lots of fun at the cabin and loved seeing all the fish. She would wave to them but did not like touching the horseshoe crab. On Saturday’s Tara, Tyler, and Tess Mallison (or as I call them T-Cubed) came to visit us. We had lots of fun playing and going to dinner at a place with a carousel on the inside. T-Cubed said that they hope to come to the cabin next year with us and we can’t wait!!!

While I started this blog to keep friends and family updated about your growth, it has turned into something that I hope you get the chance to look at when you get older. Thus, I am starting our Annual Fair Family Recap. Now you may be asking yourself, “What is the Annual Fair Family Recap?” well it is a short list of everything we have to be thankful for this year, and believe me it’s A LOT. 2009 was great for us as family….here are the top 10 reasons why:
1. We watched you grow from a little baby to a little girl. In one short word: Amazing. You’ve grown into this vibrant, loving, and funny little girl. I am so proud to be your mom.

2. Your Dad was blessed with great advances in his career. He is a true example of what hard work gets you. We’re lucky to call him ours.

3. You have fabulous grandparents. You have four grandparents who would do anything for you and think that you walk on water. Having such great people to love and be role models is a true gift.

4. You have two great grandmas. Not many little girls have Great Grandma’s and I don’t know any little girls that have 2 Great Grandma’s that are truly GREAT. Through every action they make they demonstrate what matters most in this world FAMILY. See picure above…both there because they LOVE you.
5. You have three aunts that all taught you valuable lessons. 1) Jessica continues to teach you that perseverance and determination can get you through anything. 2) Meridith taught you that independence and taking care of yourself is an absolute must. You don’t marry someone to be “completed” you marry someone because you love them and they make you a better person. That’s very important Grace. 3) Adrienne taught you that you can have it all. You can be smart, beautiful, funny, and still be kind to others.

6. You have great caregiver’s besides your family. Miss Dana who watches you three days a week and loves you like her own and your teachers at Calvary constantly tell me how great you are.
7. You had a great first birthday!! We had so much fun at your birthday party and your dad and I were so happy we made it through a year. You got many great gifts that day, but you gave me and your dad the best one. You gave us the gift of showing us that we could be good parents.

8. You went on your first visit to Cape Cod. This trip was so fun, albeit a little bittersweet. I wished so badly we that Grandma and Grandpa Deckel could have seen you, but I think they were there (especially at sunset at Bass Hole).

9. You finally started to play with your cousin Gavin. At Christmas you had so much fun following him around and he made you laugh so hard. My hope is that this continues for many years to come.

10. You learned to WALK!! While we waited 15 long months for this to happen, when it finally did we were ecstatic for a few short moments then quickly realized why the doctor said we would wish that you would sit still a little longer.
It is my wish that 2010 will bring us as many blessings as 2009 did. Already it is starting to look good…you’re getting your first UNCLE!!! This will be so fun.
I hope you look at this list Grace and realize how lucky you are. Never forget this.
Here’s to more blogging of our many blessings!!
Love Always,
Your Mommy
(Forever and Ever)
Gracie and I had the honor of being invited to the Liyana house this past week for a Ladies Brunch. While the food and mimosa’s were delicious the company was even better. I have been best friends with Tara Liyana Mallison and Hannah for over 10 years, unfortunately, our other Lady Friends Karen and Rachel couldn’t make the get together we still managed to have a good time. Few people are lucky enough to have best friends like I do and I hope that one day Grace will develop friendships as good as I have with these four ladies. We’re thick as theives!!!

So we’ve been trying to get Gracie all excited about Christmas and going to visit her grandparents in Mississippi. She has learned that Santa says “ho ho” and wanted to share her new skill with her Nana and Papaw. Please excuse the HUGE knot on her head. She got that at school yesterday when she tripped while playing.

The Fair Family kicked off the holiday season today by going an cutting down our Christmas tree. This was Gracie’s first year attending this event and boy did she think it was weird. She could not understand why we were walking around the tree farm and when her daddy started to carry the tree away after cutting it down she just started giggling. Gracie has started to notice Christmas lights when we are in the car as I often her “OOOO” coming from the back seat. We look forward to enjoying more of this holiday season!!!
As many of the readers of this blog know we at the Fair household have made a mission of supporting March for Dimes in their fight against premature births. This month is Prematurity Awareness Month and we encourage everyone who reads this blog to go to the March of Dimes website (marchofdimes.com) and check out all the important work they are doing. It was because of research that the March of Dimes supported that our little Gracie was able to get the medicine she needed for her lungs when she was born.
We’ve made a virtual wrist band in Gracie’s honor so that you can contribute financial gifts in her name if you would like this Holiday Season. Please copy and paste the web address in your browser below to see Gracie’s band.

Grace loves to dance and even though she could care less about the show “Dragon Tales” she loves the opening song and dances when it comes on. If dancing is what you would like to call it…

Gracie is beginning to learn her body parts and animal sounds and we try to practice them daily. As you will see we are still working on “nose.” This video was done a little late in the evening so Gracie was pretty tired…so bare with the blank stares. Hope you enjoy!!!

This year Gracie was Elmo for Halloween. We weren’t sure if she would be interested in wearing a costume but turns out she LOVES dressing up. Throughout the whole day of Halloween Gracie put on her fire hat, Indian head dress, tutu and other various accessories. She loved showing others how to dress up as well as you will see by Aunt Sam wearing a fire hat in one of the pictures. We carved pumpkins as well and put dum dum pops for the hair. Gracie muched prefered to swing but she did end up doing a little trick or treating just going to two houses but mainly she just wanted to follow around the other kids that were dressed up. Aunt Sam and Uncle Brian came over to the house along with LaLa and Pap and Brad smoked some ribs…which were hot but good. We had planned on Gracie going to her LaLa and Pap’s for a sleepover but with Gracie’s recent cold she didn’t quite feel up to it. All in all it was a great day!!
